This is not some Victorian watercolor by John Ruskin, but a brand new six month pinhole camera exposure by English photographer Justin Quinell, showing the daily path of the sun over the Avon bridge. the interruptions and missing arcs are due to passing clouds and days of rain or overcast.
(From the back of the class) What might account for the asymmetry of the arcs? On the right side, they appear to be reverse curves. Camera not pointed true North?

pointed south, that is, aligned to true north? (Arrrrgh)

There is no such thing as the Avon Bridge. This structure is the Clifton Suspension Bridge, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built between 1831-1863. It's a beautiful piece of engineering, with terrific views up and down the Avon Gorge. More info at http://www.clifton-suspension-bridge.org.uk/

Really, Joules, this sort of thing is giving wikipedantry a bad name ! i wish you well in persuading Brooklynites that absent an eponymous bridge , there is no such thing as an East River
