One of the most astounding failures of the imagination of Sputnik era science fiction was the absence in all those First Men On The Moon stories of live television coverage of the momentous first landing. When the great day came in reality, the only reality TV was a staticky black and white image that looked like a hallway camera on the fritz.
It will be a while before we get IMAX views of Mars, but Japan has provided a nice trailer - their new lunar orbiter has an HDTV camera aboard, and it is providing white-knuckle views of the lunar landscape rushing by underfoot-
