..../...Amputation :......... The Key To A Smoke-Free Iraq
Testifying to Congress on September 10, U.S. Ambassador Ryan
Crocker confirmed that Al Qaeda Is enforcing its smoking ban in Iraq by
cutting off fingers of Iraqi civilians caught smoking in public.
Stumping in Iowa Fred Thompson noted the Al Qaeda smoking ban has led freedom-loving Iraqi smokers to bolt to the U.S. side
"They said, 'You gotta quit smoking,"
The ban is part of a fatuous Fatwa justifying the oppression of women and the intimidation of tribal leaders in western Anbar Province.
in June, journalist MichaelYon reported from in Baqubah that Al Qeada insurgents had set up a court system, equipped to torture and imprison prison those its muftis find in violation of their fatwas and Sharia law:
" The AQI installed Sharia court had sanctioned the amputation of the two “smoking
fingers” for those who violated anti-smoking laws... a local Iraqi official, Colonel Faik... said the Muftis would order the severance of the two fingers used to hold a cigarette for any Iraqis caught smoking. Other reports, from here in Diyala and also in Anbar, allege that smokers are murdered by AQI.
Most Iraqis smoke and... After an American unit cleared an apartment complex on the 23rd, LTC Smiley, the battalion commander, reported that residents didn’t ask for food and water, but cigarettes. In other parts of Baqubah, people have been celebrating the routing of AQI by lighting up and smoking cigarettes.
Other AQI edicts included..corporal punishments for obscene sexual suggestiveness, defined by such “loose” behavior as carrying tomatoes and cucumbers in the same bag."
American Neopuritans like Clearing the Air have yet to object to Bin Laden's minions cutting off debate in Iraq.
