The Bismarck Mountains of Papua New Guinea stand 14,880 feet high. Together with the Bismarck Archipelago and Papua's lowest out islands , they are being tectonically uplifted several times faster than the less than glacial rate of sea level rise.
Ambassador Aisi neglected to tell the UN that the week before he spoke, ,a World War II torpedo boat emerged from the sea on Ranonnga, in the Solomon Islands when a powerful 8.1 earthquake raised submerged reefs three meters (10 feet) above sea level.
How dare they! Has nobody told these mountains they're doomed?
